Training is the heart of our competitive advantage. Providing Laborers access to training that strengthens current jobs skills and improves knowledge has always been a priority for LIUNA. Through training, we have the ability to offer the contractor what no one else has to offer: a multi-skilled, trained and productive workforce.
Training is the door-opening key to the 21st century. Effective training gives our members the capability of superior performance in all sectors of the construction industry. To sustain our competitive edge, our training must set the industry standards for excellence, remain responsive to the needs of our signatory contractors, and anticipate changes brought about through technology and innovation.
Apprenticeship:
With greater numbers of our aging membership retiring, the Construction Craft Laborer Apprenticeship Program, approved by the Department of Labor in 1994, is the most effective way to replace and rebuild the core of our membership.
Entry to the construction industry through apprenticeship provides LIUNA's newest members an accelerated and sustained program which allows them to hit the ground running.
Apprenticeship provides the pathway to build a career in the construction industry; to become part of our skilled, trained and productive workforce, and to learn the benefits of union membership, not available through employment with non-union contractors.
